The long durational performance ‘slips away from you’ negotiates the relation between bodies and horizon; the line seemingly separating the sky from the earth, framing our gaze while we ponder upon notions of distance and vastness, the far away and the infinite. Activating the viewers’ gaze, Belinda and Petros visit the last breakwaters before Molos and explore how they coexist with the real and imaginary elements, inhabiting this specific site as well as how their bodies become an extension of it.
Visitors are invited to also spend time in this environment experiencing the seascape in the modern city of Limassol and through the stimulations of the space, to experience a different temporality. We invite you to bring your attention to your distance with other bodies, the clouds, Molos, the sea, the rocks, the city, the ships, the horizon, the sun and how the distance becomes smaller or larger based on your actions and decisions. As we shift from day to night, let us listen to the transition and collectively leave behind what is not needed for the following day.
The performance is based on a live practice evolving in real time as the performers move, observe, narrate, and share time with everything that coexists in the environment. The performance score frames the necessity of taking time on site, with the environment of the sea and the horizon, along with the senses, colors, moments, and thoughts that accompany it. It works as an activation of the poetic, the meditative, and the political dimension of the real and the imaginary, a reflection on what we see out in the horizon, and what we might desire to exist beyond it.
