Kalia Maliali is an artist from Cyprus. She studied Dance in Athens and Choreography and Performance in London. Her interest lands at the intersection of embodiment and performance. For the last decade she has been making solo and group performances for the stage, site-specific and screen. Kalia’s work is diverse; shifting from movement, to dance, to performative acts, voice, sound, text and spoken word. Her fascination lies at the body-person-soul situation and the necessity to re-invent ways and expressions to communicate complex and shifting perceptions of social and fictitious apparatuses in the search of a new perspective. Her work has been presented at various creative structures and festivals in Athens, Stockholm, Cyprus, Edinburgh, Italy, Berlin, London and Nepal.
