Dance Throughout the Year: 25 YEARS REVISIT
Parallel Events of the 25th Cyprus Choreography Platform
To mark the 25th anniversary of the first Cyprus Choreography Platform, Dance House Lemesos invites choreographers and creators to submit proposals for participation in the program “Dance Throughout the Year: 25 YEARS REVISIT,” which will take place within the framework of the parallel events of the 25th Cyprus Choreography Platform (14–16 November).
The program aims to revisit and revive previous productions of the Platform or its parallel events through new creative proposals that explore how these works can be re-seen, re-interpreted, or transformed today, and what new perspectives or shifts may emerge through this process.
The initiative encourages dialogue between past and present, promoting the sustainability of artistic production, intergenerational exchange, and the connection of the choreographic community with a wider audience.
Description and Implementation Framework
Through this call, three proposals will be selected*.
All indoor proposed activities will take place at Art Studio 55, while outdoor activities (where proposed) may be held in public spaces near Rialto Theatre.
The activities may include:
- Performances
- Workshops
- Lecture performances
- Public space interventions
- Exhibitions or archival installations
- Film screenings
- Or other forms of artistic action connected to previous productions of the Platform.
The selected proposals will receive promotional and technical support from Dance House Lemesos to ensure their smooth realization.
* Dance House Lemesos reserves the right to commission, reduce, or increase the number of selected productions depending on available resources.
Objectives
- Creation of new works based on previous productions, exploring how these can be revisited today and what new artistic or social contexts may emerge.
- Strengthening the dialogue between generations of artists.
- Broadening and activating audiences through activities addressing diverse social groups (e.g. children, youth, elderly, etc.).
Eligibility and Criteria
- Choreographers participating in this year’s Platform with their own new proposal are not eligible to apply (they may only participate through third-party proposals).
- Eligible applicants are all choreographers who have previously participated in the Cyprus Choreography Platform or in the parallel events of Dance House Lemesos up to and including last year’s edition.
- Each proposal must be based on a previous production that has been presented within the framework of the Platform or its parallel events.
- Maximum funding amount: €3,500 per proposal (with detailed budget).
Evaluation Criteria
- Artistic quality / Clear connection of the proposed activity to the present and its relevance for re-examination.
- Relevance to the institution and history of the Platform.
- Purpose and expected impact.
- Feasibility of implementation and budget realism.
- Diversity and contribution to the overall program.
The proposals will be evaluated by a three-member committee, whose members will have no involvement in the submitted proposals or productions of this year’s edition.
