Open Studio: Workshops

The three artists of the residency and artistic development program Moving the New 2022, open their practice to the public and share their research and methodology through a series of free workshops.

Program:

10:00-11:30

Thoughts –Words – Actions | Elisavet Panagiotou

In this meeting we are interested in creating and exploring material which is based mainly on–written or oral -speech, the body and movement. We will employ these mediums both independently of each other as well as interdependently. Using free association, improvisation, and repetition, we will be crafting short, individual and collaborative, compositions related to themes such as the light, chance and knowledge.

For whom: The workshop is open to people with an interest in performing arts, independently of their experience level.

12:00-13:30 

The weight that passes around | Katerina Paisi

This workshop explores in a playful way the body gestures and limitations towards the weights which flows between us. Through the actions of re/arranging, locating, passing and choosing the objects based on the capacity of the bodies, we aim to gain a tactical understanding of the weights, both the psychological and physical, we share through interactions. 

15:00-16:30

Musical Bodies | George Bizios

This workshop focuses on the relationship between the human body and sound while it explores ways in which music can be deconstructed and displaced in a movement and performative context. Under the guidance of the facilitator, the participants will activate the sense of hearing and develop a movement vocabulary starting from sound. Among different tasks, the workshop will be completed with a jam session giving participants the opportunity to explore and experiment around the content of the workshop.

The workshop is open to professional and amateur performers who are interested in the relationship between body, movement and sound.
