I want to share a scream with you.

«Bless the Sound that Saved a Witch like me»  is a performance resembling a scream of alarm in the context of the geopolitical, ideological and ecological crisis. Screaming is less well documented in the history of philosophy and the social sciences. It is mostly equated with anger, hysteria or chaos.

According to Benjamin Kahn: “Whether filled with rage, pleasure, pain or silence, the scream is a powerful and deeply intimate act. It provokes an instant empathy that also summons what we have in common and instinctive. It is a crack in space-time and will make us irrevocably listen to new silences.”

Considering the scream as the most instantaneous and audible form of expressing personal urgency towards the political and public space, this solo is an attempt to reappropriate this act in order to articulate and tame this raw and staggering material. This journey is physical and sonic and aims at making this vital impulse accessible again.

“Bless the Sound that Saved a Witch like me” is the second part of a trilogy of portraits, composed by “Sorry, But I Feel Slightly Disidentified…”, a solo for Cherish Menzo and the solo The Blue Hour for Théo Aucremanne (2023).
