Choreographer Hend Elbalouty invites performers to participate in a one-day workshop, which will also serve as an audition for the selection of two performers to join her new work, Remembrance, to be presented on 4 October as part of the Open House Festival programme.
Remembrance reframes female grief as a cosmic force of renewal and continuity. A single tear holds multitudes, a nation, a lineage, a river of lost names. The performance becomes an embodied lamentation, where memory is not only recalled but made physical, fluid, and sacred. It extends beyond the human, holding water, land, planets, and non-human beings as witnesses and carriers of memory, suggesting that grief moves across species, elements, and worlds. Tears become both lament and seed, where grief and survival are intertwined.
