MOVING THE NEW
The artistic residency program Moving The New primarily aims to support, encourage, and continuously develop the Cypriot choreographic community and its work, as well as to involve it in the broader European dance/artistic scene. Beyond the development of artistic projects, the program provides participants with the time and space to focus on processes where the exchange of opinions and feedback is activated through mentoring practices, peer-to-peer exchanges, different forms of presentation, and community engagement.
2026 Resident Artists
The program is designed for professional artists and artistic groups operating in the fields of (expanded) choreography and performance, who approach the concept of the body and dance using various artistic means.
Since its initiation in 2009, the structure of Moving The New has been continually re-evaluated to reflect the needs of the artistic community, adopting new versions. In 2023, Moving The New was divided into the following strands: Artistic Development Programme & Artistic Residency Programme, while in 2024, it evolved into:
Project Development Residency: The purpose of this residency is the development or re-evaluation of an existing work—which has been presented at least once, either as a work in progress or a completed piece—and its presentation.
Artistic Research Residency: The purpose of this residency is to provide time and space for deepening into artistic practices, themes, and methodologies, regardless of the final artistic outcome.
